Eurogamer have published their latest chat with Sony regarding the PlayStation Move controller system. In this latest revelation Sony have admitted that they can make the Move even more accurate than it is currently through a potential upgrade of the units firmware. Although the source, Anton Mikhailov from SCEA, doesn’t believe an improvement in accuracy is necessary:

“So far we haven’t had any real requests from studios to improve the accuracy.  There are a couple of issues here and there we can fix, but the majority the games are not even taxing it to its full accuracy.”

What do you think, is the Move accurate enough for you? I personally think it is a very accurate system, I’ve never had any issues with the accuracy of the PS Move but, it’s good to know that there is a plan for the future all the same and firmware updates if we need them.

Software supremos Electronic Arts (EA) have stated in an interview with gaming trade magazine MCV, that they think that in the long term, the Sony PlayStation 3 can catch up with the Xbox 360 in terms of sales and popularity, in the UK marketplace.

“We could certainly see Sony come back – in the UK it’s still a head-to-head competition between PlayStation and Xbox, but on the continent Sony is traditionally stronger than Microsoft”

Senior vice president of EA in Europe Jens Uwe Intat made the prediction, although he also indicated that EA are happy to see the Xbox 360 and PS3 compete and that the Xbox Kinect and PlayStation Move controller hardware are “both very interesting ideas”.

The full interview can be found here on the MCV website.

Along with the update, the PS3 has jumped on the social network bandwagon, with Facebook integration being put in place for supported games and a “grief reporting function”.

  • Facebook Integration: Developers will be able to create PS3 games that have more interaction with Facebook. Once compatible PS3 titles are available, PS3 users can choose to access public information on Facebook – including user name, profile, uploaded photos and friends list – to enhance their gameplay experience.
  • Grief Reporting Function: Users can send claim reports directly from the XMB for any inappropriate messages they receive from other PlayStation Network users. This feature is accessible from the option menu of the messages list in the FRIENDS category.
