The cell processor in the PS3 will be upgrading to 45nm in 2009, but, ‘impress’ have posted news stating that this is the chip the Playstation 4, hopefully due for release in 2010, will use too.

Reasons for using the same cell processor? To cut down on production costs it would seem, if the news is correct. It will be a technologically advanced processor, certainly advanced enough to be ahead of Microsoft and Nintendo in this area, so it shouldn’t be too much of a worry for anyone looking to the future of the Playstation brand.

Plenty of time for this news to be proven true or false of course but, its always good to read a little news to remind us that the PS4 is coming our way!
