Sony are to shrink the size of their VAIO Y range down to 11.6 inches from 13.3. The new Sony Vaio Y mini laptop will feature an 11.6 inch display with a 1366×768 pixel resolution. Other specs of the laptop will include a 320GB hard drive, an Intel Core i3-380UM 1.33GHz processor, Intel HD graphics card, 2GB of RAM as standard but, can support 8GB of memory. We will also see support for Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1. The VAIO Y will also feature a HDMI out port, enabling you to connect the laptop to your HD TV, as long as it has HDMI ports any way. Windows 7 Home Premium will come preloaded on the netbook.

Unfortunately the laptop will only be released in Japan. The laptop will being selling on November 27th. As of yet the pricing is unknown but, is expected to go on sale for 110,000 Yen. There’s no word on whether we will see the 11.6 inch Vaio Y outside of Japan.

Sony have updated their VAIO M netbook to include the latest Intel Atom processor. Currently the netbook features an Intel Atom N450 processor but, the newer model will feature the Intel Atom N470 processor, which increases the CPU from 1.66GHz to 1.86GHz. None of the other specs appear to have changed. It will still feature a 10.1 inch display with the standard netbook resolution of 1024×600, 1GB RAM and a 250GB hard drive. It will also be available in white, blue or pink and will retail for $399. Will you be picking up the VAIO M with it’s updated processor, or do you wish Sony had done more, like include the impressive 1366×768 resolution as found on their VAIO W line?

Sony Style US have stocks of the highly anticipated second generation of Sony Vaio P netbooks and are shipping a week earlier than expected. US buyers have had to wait for their Vaio P whilst watching other countries recieve their ‘lifestyle PC’ as early as May this year but, Sony Style are sending the Vaio P out as of today (18th June) as opposed to the stated shipping date of the 25th of June. That is unless you are waiting for the hot pink Vaio P which unfortunately isn’t available for shipping yet.

Here is some good news for all those communicator fans. Sony Ericsson is allegedly developing an Android device which is similar to the Nokia Communicator. The device will feature a 5.5 inch screen and will have a sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The device is more of a miniature netbook than a smartphone because of its relatively large size.

The company will be giving away one VAIO P every day until the end of June. From July until August, the company will still have VAIO P laptops up for grabs but, reduced to one winner a week.
