Sony Ericsson ditches Memory Stick Micro

Future phones from Sony Ericsson, are no longer to use the Memory Stick Micro card but rather the more established and popular, not to mention cheaper, microSD option. For those who have gone from the K800i onwards, perhaps it isn’t good news, my 2GB Micro card has been useful for my other, upgraded models. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 is one of the phones to drop the Memory Stick Micro support and instead uses microSD cards which was a popular decision. The use of microSD is more widespread, making it possible to use one memory stick for several devices. The cost however makes it possible to be able to buy more than one and have it be useful, even if you change to a different brand phone. MicroSD is already seen on many other phones such as Nokias.
