With CES 2012 now over, we’ve compiled a list of Sony specific announcements and news from the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas.

We also learned some key stats from the event, such as more than 60 billion hours of Sony Music is listened to each year and there are more than a billion people who watch Sony movies and TV shows each year. There will be 300 million Sony networked devices in market over the next three years and there are currently 900 million products in households.

The Press conference also covered the Sony Entertainment Network and why it exists, which summed up is “to give consumers a single, cloud based, place for all their networked content (games, music, movies, TV shows), with one login and one digital wallet”.

The Sony PlayStation Vita will launch February 22nd with Netflix in the US and the Sony Tablet P will be released shortly and both will come with Sony Entertainment access.

The next stage in Sony Entertainment Network is PlayMemories Online which will let you host your photos and video “on the cloud”. This will launch in spring.

Sony, like many other manufacturers have jumped into the tablet market and we saw two tablets announced by them a few months back. Both tablets stood apart from the rest of the crowd. The Sony Tablet S, previously known as the S1 was released back in September and featured a design which has been described as being similar to a folded back magazine. Sony’s other tablet entry, the Tablet P, previously known as the S2 features two 5.5 inch touch screen displays and a clam shell design akin to Nintendo’s DS.

The Sony Tablet P has now been released in the UK and comes with a £499.99 price tag. For that, you get two 5.5 inch displays, with 1024×480 resolution, 1GB RAM, 4GB internal storage, microSD support, dual core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor and a 5 megapixel camera on the back, with a VGA camera on the inside. The tablet runs Android 3.2 which, will most likely be upgraded to Android 4.0 some time in the future. The Tablet P, along with the Tablet S comes with PlayStation certification and there are already several PSone games that have been ported to the tablets, such as Wipeout and Crash Bandicoot.

While Sony have dared to be different with the design, it seems like they have dared to be different with the price tag as well. Most tablets are around the £400 mark, such as the Apple iPad and Sony’s Tablet S so it will be interesting to see how this uniquely designed tablet will fare in the market.
