The Xperia has got a release date thanks to Play.com. You can now pre-order the handset from Play, who state the release date is January 29th. The RRP for the handset is £549.99 but, with Play it’ll cost £50 less at £499.99. While over on the Vodafone store, the Xperia X2 page has mysteriously disappeared. Instead you are greeted with a page not found page.

Expansys may have the release date of the Xperia X2 as January, but the official Sony Ericsson store has the release date listed much earlier. As early as October in fact. There’s no information regarding price or an exact date but you’re able to Pre-Register your interest on the handset. But before you even get to that, the company has outed the phone as being an exclusive to Vodafone here in the UK.

Telefonino have had a chance to use the upcoming Xperia X2, but up until recently it was only available in Italian. The video has now been re-uploaded on YouTube. Again the actual video is in Italian, but English subtitles have been added. You can view the video after the jump.

It may have only been a few days since the Xperia X2 was officially announced, but the handset is already available to pre-order. Rumors are going around that the handset will be released November 2nd in Italy for 600 Euros, but as of yet, I’m yet to see any sites confirming this.

In the UK however it’s a different story. Retailer Expansys, who previously listed the X3 for a couple of days, has the Xperia X2 listed for pre-order with a release date and price. It lists the specs which we already know, such as featuring an 8.1 megapixel camera, Windows Mobile 6.5 and TV Out. Expansys are listing the X2 with an estimated release date of 11 January 2010. The price of the handset is listed as £604.99.

This week Sony Ericsson have officially announced the release of the Xperia X2 along with the handset which was previously known as Kiki. The Xperia X2 is the successor to the popular Windows Mobile Xperia X1. The X2 will also run Windows Mobile but the updated 6.5 version. Engadget were also able to preview the Xperia X2, which at the moment, Windows Mobile 6.5 isn’t finalised, so there’s a bit of lag in the UI. The Xperia X2 also features an upgraded camera coming it at 8.1 mega pixels. Release date is set for Q4 of 2009, so hopefully we should see the handset before Christmas. The other Xperia handset announced, is not the Xperia Rachael, aka X3, but rather the handset we formally knew as Kiki. The handset, well known specs are limited at the moment, we have known it will feature a “transparent screen”. Again we have a video showing this which you can view after the jump. The display is visible from both sides of the handset, but if it only displays during certain screens or can be turned off is currently unknown. Hopefully it can be turned off, or not on during certain screens, other wise text messages soon won’t be very private. The handset has been named Xperia Pureness and is due for release also in Q4, with November as the month the coming is aiming for.

Both handsets will launch in selected markets during Q4. No price is known as of yet.

We’ve seen the photos of the upcoming Xperia X2 and now the blueprints of the device have been leaked onto the internet. Appearance is the

same as we’ve previously seen in the photos but with some noticeable features we hadn’t seen before. The top and bottom of the X2 both have grills which are supposedly the speaker grills. Other details are still currently unknown but, we’ll keep you updated.

We’ve seen photos of the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia X2, as well as read of leaked specs, but no official word from Sony Ericsson yet. While tomorrow, Wednesday 17th June, could change all that. An invite has been sent out for a press event in Singapore and leaked. While the invitation hints more at it’s Entertainment Unlimited series which includes the Satio, aka Idou, there’s rumours flying around that the event could also unviel official information on the Xperia X2.

If the previous pictures of the upcoming Xperia X2 from Sony Ericsson weren’t enough for you, on the Esato forums more pictures have been posted up. The pictures show the phone while closed, with the display on and in a different color. These shots see the Xperia X2 in silver, which make the handset look even better than the X1. But is the silver more sleek than the black model? I think so.

Earlier we showed you some pictures of the upcoming Xperia X2 from Sony Ericsson. Today we’ve gotten hold of the specifications of the handset. The specs, were leaked on Mobile-Review forum, so how accurate they are isn’t known, but it’s very likely these will be the specs of the handset.

The handset as we already know includes an 8.1 megapixel camera, which will also feature auto focus, high quality video and VGA at 30 fps. The screen is also an extra 0.5 inches bigger than the X1 at 3.5 inches. The Xperia X2 will run on Windows Mobile 6.5, with support for upgrading to Windows Mobile 7. The processor is unknown, but touted faster than that used in the X1. Also included is GPS, accelerometer and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Xperia Panels system has also been modified to include many innovative features. Remote Play with the PS3 is one of the rumoured modifications, which is sure to work better than MobileRemote.

Following on from the flagship Windows Mobile handset, the Xperia X1, the successor has been spotted. The Xperia X2, codenamed Vulcan, has been snapped by FanKlub.se both from the front and the back. From the front you can see the qwerty keyboard has the Windows button in the top right, while also looking easier to type on than the keyboard found on the X1. Also on the front of the X2 is the panels button and the Xperia wording.

With a look at the back, we can confirm the X2 will sport an 8.1 megapixel camera, parring itself with the camera capabilities of the Sony Ericsson C905. Other details we can also confirm, is that the X2 will not be manufacutered by HTC, who partnered Sony Ericsson with the development of the X1.
