Remember the decorated Vaio T designed by Japanese artist Hayashi? Well how about an official decorated notebook from Sony themselves. Over at SonyStyle US a range of new notebooks have been added, dubbed the Signature Collection. The Signature Collection adds a stylish look to various Vaio laptops ranging from the pocketable but not a netbook Vaio P to the Vaio CS range.

As the name suggests, the laptops are part of a collection and therefore limited in quantity. The Vaio TT in electric blue and Carbon Fibre Z are down to 120 left, where as the Vaio P in glossy black and a few other models, still have 1000 left.

Yes you read that right, “the netbook but not a netbook” Vaio P from Sony has been hacked to run the Mac OS. Well, kinda. The drivers for the video chip weren’t great in it’s original Windows OS, but InsanelyMac forum members, ryuu123 and maccosmo have solved the problem and posted how they did it. 3D games and apps however can’t be run because of missing drivers. The WiFi, GPS, 3G and Ethernet also don’t work, so currently getting online isn’t an easy task. So while the Vaio P can run OS X, it needs a lot more tweaking before it can be used as an every day operating system. Despite that though, it’s still said to be better and faster than Vista on the machine.

Over at SonyInsider, they’ve found some information regarding other P series laptops. The Sony Vaio Portable is currently available in the P500 series.  The new model numbers that have been revealed are P710T/B, P710T/R, P710T/G and P710T/w, indicating that the colors of black, red, green and white will remain the same. Two other models listed are the P730A/Q and P730T/Q.  Sony Insider hint that these could be new models with hopefully higher specifications, such as more RAM, bigger storage space in the form of SSD, or even a different processor. As of now this is all just rumour, but we’ll keep you informed of any updates.

Vaino is Vaio P fake

vaino_sony_copy_1
Who doesn’t love clones of popular gadgets? A cheap alternative to popular and highly sought after devices. Usually providing just as many features as the original product and almost identical to it, leaving many friends fooled.

The latest hi tech device to have a fake made is the Sony Vaio P, aptly named Vaino. It features the normal netbook specs of 1GB RAM, 160GB hard drive and a 10.2 inch display. Obviously the larger screen size makes the Vaino a different size to the Vaio P, but it looks like it and that’s all that matters right? That and the considerable cheaper price tag of $392 and worldwide shipping from EeMobi
