Sony to release wireless OLED TV

Sony are to release a wireless version of the XEL-1 OLED TV.

While it may not be a worthwhile screen size, the XEL-1 was the first TV to be released in the US with OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology. OLED has a 1 million to 1 contrast ration with a rapid response time and uses low power consumption. Sony are now releasing a wireless version to the XEL-1 and have recently been showing it off. The wireless XEL-1 will be powered by battery.

Many hoped for a screen size increase from Sony. So while this doesn’t solve that problem, it does offer something intersting. The Sony XEL-1 has a built-in tuner, so will be considered a very portable solution to travellers. But unfortunately an expensive one. There is no price confirmed as of yet, but with the previous XEL-1 retailing at $2,500 you can bet this is going to be more.
