Sony Japan are updating a media playing device they originally released 7 years ago. The CFD-A110 includes a cassette player, which 7 years ago was still a mainstream media storage device, as well as a CD player and radio. The reason for the update is because next year, Japan will stop receiving analogue radio transmission, where as the new model will be capable of receiving digital transmissions.
Other features of the CFD-A110 include a wireless remote control, a “rudimentary Karaoke function” – an external mic can be plugged in but, it also has an integrated mic. It will also have 2Wx2ch speakers.
The player will go on sale next month in Japan, from the 21st for around $210. Sony haven’t announced any plans to release the A110 in other countries.
