The latest in Sony Ericsson’s GreenHeart series of mobile phone handsets has been announced by the company.
To be known as the “Cedar” handset, this latest environmentally friendly phone is candy-bar style, is made from recycled plastic, has a low power consumption charger and will be supplied to consumers in ‘green’packaging with no paper instruction manuals, all for the good of the planet. Functionality isn’t overly compromised by it’s environmentally friendly aim though, with the handset offering a 2.2 inch screen, a 2 megapixel camera, 3G HSDPA for high speed internet access and a widget manager which enables easy social networking access.
What look to be ‘Official’ photos have emerged of the Sony Ericsson Xperia X8, also known as Shakira, over on the se-nse blog.
Although exact specifications of the newest incarnation of Sony Ericsson smartphones haven’t been released yet, it appears that the Xperia X8 is, as expected, a cross between the full sized Xperia X10 and the smaller X10 Mini, sitting in the middle of those sized phones. It has been noted that there doesnt seem to be any flash for the camera on the X8 which would be disappointing but again, until specs are released by Sony Ericsson we can’t confirm that.
Here is some good news for all those communicator fans. Sony Ericsson is allegedly developing an Android device which is similar to the Nokia Communicator. The device will feature a 5.5 inch screen and will have a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
The device is more of a miniature netbook than a smartphone because of its relatively large size.

It’s also possible to connect the phone to gaming systems and home entertainment systems through DLNA. Unfortunately, there’s no information on whether this has fixed any of the ongoing issues with the handset. Let us know if you’ve noticed any differences/improvements after updating.
