Sony Japan have announced the news of their new Hokkaido-maple and birch clad SS-AR2 speaker set. This will replace the SS-AR1 speaker set. They are bound to be expensive but, for pure quality, these speakers stand out.

Even with the Playstation 3 becoming a huge success in Asia, that hasn’t stopped the Sony corporation from seeing their profits dive in recent months. Net profits for Sony are down 47.5% (down to 360 million) from this time last year. With the release of this recent information, Sony has adjusted projections for the fiscal year to account for the apparent falling trajectory. Sony attributed the drop in earnings to the global economy crisis and falling market confidence in the electronics sector. The main contributing factor to the decline in profits in revenue is said to be a decline in LCD television, blu-ray players and digital camera sales.

The cell processor in the PS3 will be upgrading to 45nm in 2009, but, ‘impress’ have posted news stating that this is the chip the Playstation 4, hopefully due for release in 2010, will use too.

Reasons for using the same cell processor? To cut down on production costs it would seem, if the news is correct. It will be a technologically advanced processor, certainly advanced enough to be ahead of Microsoft and Nintendo in this area, so it shouldn’t be too much of a worry for anyone looking to the future of the Playstation brand.
